Don't let gravity bring you down!
Cosmotrons is a love letter to classic arcades, particularly "vector" titles that were popular during the Golden Age in the late 70's and early 80's. Like Gravitar, gravity is "always there," having to be managed in addition to navigating the vector-style landscapes, arena hazards and other players.
The game contains four game modes, three of which are available to up to four players. These are:
Single Player - Explore, practice and compete in speed runs
VS. - A free-for-all arena deathmatch for up to 4 players
Team - 2v2 arena battles
Be The Boss - 2v1 or 3v1. One pilot controls the overpowered Juggernaut ship and the other players team up in an attempt to destroy them.
In each game mode, players are able to chose from several different starfighters, each with their own nuances and features. There are also special weapons that can be selected when a match begins, allowing players to really find the setup that works best for them.
While the game allows operators to change up how many rounds and lives the players have, default settings allow for a couple of rounds followed by a race to the finish.

Released on April 21st, 2018.
The game design began in November of 2016 and was available in a playable format by the Midwest Gaming Classic event the following March. It was originally intended as a Steam release, but was changed into an arcade exclusive game after feedback from fans began suggesting that this would be a perfect fit for the category.
The game designer, Shane Gutbrod, took the unprecedented step of funding a "Cosmotrons Summer Tour," which involved raising money through Gofundme to take two of the game cabinets on a cross-country tour. The tour started in July and ended in August, going from Wisconsin and stopping along at various arcades on the way to the California Extreme event in San Jose, CA. On the way home, the game made additional stops at several arcades, allowing many players to experience it before the release.
Cosmotrons is the first arcade game to make use of a 4K display, having been released only a few months before Raw Thrills' Halo: Fireteam Raven 4K arcade game.
A smaller, more affordable version of the game cabinet was revealed at the Pinball Expo 2018 event in Chicago, IL.
The designers have game design legends on film praising the game, including Eugene Jarvis, Brian F. Colin, and Jeffery Lee. They praised the game for it's no-holds-barred return to classic-style gameplay.
Like Gravitar, one "enemy" you face is gravity. Collision with the ground generally means death. When you first play the game, it is best to play with the Noob vessel, which has a collision shield to prevent insta-deaths with the ground (although it can be used up if you become too "crashy."
When all of your lives are lost, a "pilot" is ejected and falls to the ground. You can aim and fire at enemies in this state, but can be killed or collected for ammo.
