Tennis Tourney was released in July 1973. More than 5000 units were produced in the US.
It was the first 4-player video arcade game.
According to an interview with Nolan Bushnell in the June-July 1975 issue of Play Meter Magazine, Allied releasing Tennis Tourney when they did forced Atari to release Pong Doubles (Atari's first 4-player game) earlier than desired. This caused a little bit of an uproar among operators who felt that Atari was pushing too fast to upgrade to the newer, better model.
