Ryuuko no Ken for Mega Drive was released on January 14, 1994 in Japan. The retail price was 8800 Yen. It was the first Mega Drive title for 1994 in Japan.

During the development, the game was called "Ryuuko no Ken Mini" internally. Because everything was reduced from the original.
