Wonder Momo © 1989 NAMCOT.
Wonder Momo is a side-scrolling beat'm up by Namco. The players takes control of Momo, a cute girl who has the extraordinary ability to turn into a wonder-girl (hence the game's title). Interestingly, all the action happen in a Theatre and an audience can be clearly seen at the bottom of the screen. Each stage has its load of enemies, such as easy to hit grey creatures or meaner flying machines. They sometimes drop colored pills which will refill Momo's precious life bar. It is quite important to collect every single one of them, hence Momo's life is not restored when a stage is completed. Everytime a baddy is defeated, Momo's wonder bar increases. When ready, she can turn into Wonder Momo by either facing the audience and repeadly hitting the fire button, or by entering a small twister that never seems to appear when you need it the most. Wonder Momo's greatest ability is a ring of energy that she can throw at will at her enemies, if she can managed to pick it up once it's gone bouncing all over the stage though. Then, soon, the boss appears and has to be defeated to unlock the next stage. Every five levels or so, an short animated screen shows Momo having some good time.
