(Takahashi Meijin no Daibouken Jima)
Here is the Super Famicom version of the popular Takahashi Meijin no Daibouken Jima action game by Hudson Soft. The original game was released for the Famicom system and certainly deserved a 16 bit upgrade. In this new and colorful episode, Master Takahashi must save his girlfriend from a terrible fate. An evil sorcerer has turned her into a stone statue and our hero must now find a cure to this atrocious curse. As usual, Master Takahashi has to race through several stages, from deep jungles to erupting volcanoes and even inside a gigantic whale. Takahashi can run, crouch and jump, and can also trigger a super jump by crouching and jumping at the same time. Two of his traditional weapons are also available - The axe and the boomerang certainly help the player getting rid of the army of demonic monsters encountered throughout the adventure. These weapons can also be powered-up by collecting them multiple times. The now legendary skateboard power-up is still there for the picking and allows Takahashi to spice things up a little and literally fly through stages. As usual with any game of the series, fruits need to be constantly collected to refill our hero's ever decreasing life bar.
